Frequently Asked Questions
How are you keeping this event safe for participants?
We trust that our participants know how to adhere to the health guidelines set forth by the local and state authorities by now. Because participants will be coming from different places, masks are required in the lobby and encouraged when moving throughout potentially crowded spaces. We will be selling tickets ONLINE ONLY this year (not at the door!) and implementing a highly efficient check-in system using only your last name to avoid unnecessary crowding. After check-in, participants are encouraged to spread out throughout the massive 54,000 sq ft facility. Our staff will also follow the host gym's required cleaning and sanitization procedures each night of the event so it is ready for the next day.
Do I need to wear a mask?
Masks are required in the lobby and strongly encouraged when moving throughout potentially crowded spaces. We understand that our attendants may be in different mindsets regarding mask use but we ask EVERYONE to be respectful and have one with you in case it is needed.
What happens if someone gets injured?
We've hosted 9 events in the past 8 years and attended dozens of others. We understand that the risk of injury is always present with this kind of event. We encourage everyone to warm up properly and not to attempt skills that are unreasonably outside your skill level. We will have a first aid kit, along with a CPR & First Aid certified staff member present for the duration of the event. Emergency procedures are maintained by the organizers, Matt and Sam, who will respond as necessary in the unlikely event of an emergency.
Can my significant other / parents / friends come and watch?
We have no problem admitting spectators who have purchased a Spectator Ticket. These must be purchased online just like participant tickets. Because we may need to limit the overall capacity of the event, please understand that NEO reserves the right to limit the number of spectator tickets that may be sold. If you have any questions regarding spectating at any time, please email us at email@example.com.
Do I need a waiver signed?
Yes! All participants and spectators 18 years and older will sign a waiver when purchasing tickets. If your parent or legal guardian is purchasing for you, they will also be required to sign the waiver on your behalf. The waiver is presented in check box form when you go to complete your ticket purchase.
What happens if I buy my ticket and can't make it?
Get in touch with us right away at firstname.lastname@example.org. We do not guarantee refunds but we will certainly hear your situation and see how we can work with you.
How do I purchase tickets?
Purchasing tickets is simple and can be done right here on our website. You will need a valid credit or debit card to make your purchase. Please note that we will be selling tickets ONLINE ONLY this year. Even if you do not purchase until the day of the event, you will still be able to do so online. We will not be accepting cash or processing payments in person. We apologize for any inconvenience but feel this is a necessary measure that will help eliminate crowding around the front door at the beginning of the event.
What happens if the event gets cancelled?
We've worked very hard to dot our I's and cross our T's with setting up this event. We have double checked state guidelines and stayed in close communication with the host gym's owner and we are extremely confident that NEO: Detroit will proceed as planned. Nevertheless, things occasionally don't go as planned and in the unlikely event we need to cancel, your ticket purchase will be refunded in full.
Where can I stay Friday night if I'm coming from out of town?
We unfortunately cannot accommodate overnight stay on Friday night this year. While we've traditionally accommodated this in the past, we have a slightly different arrangement with our new host gym this year. We recommend securing a hotel room at one of the nearby hotels, which can be found here.
Can I stay in the gym Saturday night?
Yes! The gym boasts 54,000 sq ft with three spring floors, a full "dead mat" floor, and an equal-sized indoor astro turf field. We will be designating the 'Ninja' side of the gym as the sleeping area for Saturday night. You may bring a sleeping bag and pillow, however we would prefer for you to keep those items in your vehicle if possible until you actually go to sleep. We encourage everyone to get at least a few hours of shut-eye, especially those that are driving home Sunday afternoon.
What kind of food will be served and when?
We will be providing Friday and Saturday dinner, along with snacks throughout the weekend. Menu to be announced. The gym also has a concession stand that will most likely be operational for the event and there are many nearby restaurants and other food options.
Unfortunately, we will not be able to accommodate overnight stay at the gym for Friday night. But no worries - splitting a hotel room with a few buddies is surprisingly affordable! Saturday night, we've got you.
